To FLU SHOT or not to FLU SHOT?

That is my question?? What are all of your opinions about the flu shot for kids? Do you get one each year? Why or why not? I can't decide how I feel about them. AND do they really work?

Yeah I don't know the answer to this one either...but I will say...I never get one and I have a weak immune system...and I don't get it because I just feel like I don't want to put stuff into my body. I've often wondered the same. I say talk to a doctor that you really trust...or more then one and get them to break it down to you.

We all get them in our house. Since Josh has got RSV when he was 3 months we decided to get them for the family. It appears to make a difference for us. I do know that there can be several types of the flu. We will be getting them again this year.

We get them, because it keeps the kids flu from turning into pneumonia. I've done it once and it wasn't all that much fun. :) I did read last year that extra rest is required for the shot to be the most effective. I scheduled their shots one year on a less busy week so they could sleep well for the week after. It worked and they were sick fewer times that year. So, this year I'm hoping that we can convince them to sleep again. :-)

Every time I get a shot, something goes wrong. As long as your luck is no where as "good" as mine, go for it. I know lots of people who swear by it. But they also say they are based on last years flu strains. I'm really no help to you because I'm just glad I don't have children and therefore don't have to make the decision. hehehe

Hi Amy - we get them every year ... including John and I (work provides them to us free). LOL - doing their part to make sure we don't call in sick!

We actually have Ryan and Cailyn scheduled to get theirs today -- needless to say they aren't looking forward to it -- but hey, neither are John and I! LOL!

I've been getting one as long as I can remember ... and both of the pediatricians we've had have recommended it for the kids -- so each year we all get them.
